Storia triste di un marciapiede
Invitati da un cittadino ci siamo recati presso l’incrocio tra via Palazzo e via Giuseppe Verdi e abbiamo potuto constatare che il marciapiede che si trova proprio di fronte al suddetto incrocio è interessato a dei lavori di rifacimento. Peccato che tali lavori in realtà di fatto renderanno lo stesso impraticabile, in quanto la sua larghezza è stata ridotta della metà e questo probabilmente per aumentare l’area di sosta delle automobili, nonostante proprio in via Simmaco, e quindi a poche decine di metri, vi sia un’ampia area riservata a tale scopo. Ad essere penalizzati quindi saranno quanti usavano tale marciapiede per spostarsi nel quartiere a piedi, anche perché a peggiorare la situazione è l’arretramento di due pali della pubblica illuminazione proprio sul marciapiede, che riducono sensibilmente l’aria utile al calpestio. Senza trascurare inoltre la discesa e la salita dallo stesso. Ci vorranno probabilmente ottime doti di equilibrista per non andare a gambe all’aria. Peggio ancora capiterà ad esempio a chi è disabile ed è costretto a spostarsi in carrozzina, oppure ai genitori di bambini e ai lori passeggini. Aggiungiamo a margine della scomparsa del marciapiede che la consigliera comunale di opposizione Villa quale giorno fa si è lamentata del fatto che il comune di Formia ha perso una parte dei soldi garantiti dal PNRR per la riqualificazione architettonica della città. Per noi invece è una fortuna, visto che sarebbe stati sicuramente soldi buttati, al pari di quelli utilizzati per regalare alla nostra città cattedrali abbandonate, come ad esempio la stazione marittima al Molo Vespucci, oppure l’adeguamento e messa in sicurezza delle strutture portuali per l’ormeggio delle navi da crociera sempre al Molo Vespucci, oppure ancora i due enormi parcheggi realizzati al centro di Formia.
Il risultato è che alla fine non siamo riusciti nemmeno a contare i soldi spesi, soldi ovviamente sottratti ad opere ben più preziose, come dare una casa ai tanti che non se la possono permettere.
L’ente comunale e a cascata gli uffici pubblici farebbero bene a limitarsi ad asfaltare le strade, per evitare di distruggere quel po’ di vivibilità che offre la città ai suoi abitanti (il termine cittadini lo evitiamo volutamente per non privarlo del suo vero significato). E anche sull’asfalto delle strade stendiamo un velo pietoso, facciamo nostro l’espressione “sarebbe come sparare sulla croce rossa”.
